April
Our new aviation leadership structure is announced, and our five tour operator airlines move closer together to form a 'virtual' airline that will work together to ensure growth and collaboration, increase profitability and deliver a seamless customer experience. Read more.

We exceeded our airline carbon reduction target a year ahead of schedule, reducing emissions across our airlines by 9.3% over five years. This represents a major step towards our aim of achieving sustainability change at scale, both across our own operations and the wider industry. Read more.

August
Latest Sustainable Holidays Report reveals our progress against our three year Sustainable Holidays Plan launched in 2012. Our airlines hit their carbon reduction target two years early and £16m was saved across the business in 2012 through environmental efficiencies. Read more.

Our first international group-wide product concept is launched. SuneoClub, designed collaboratively by our Mainstream businesses as part of our modern mainstream strategy, provides friendly, modern and bright three-star all inclusive hotels for those customers looking for great value on a budget. The purchase of 60 new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft is agreed with shareholders. The multi-billion pound investment, which also includes the option to purchase a further 90 aircraft, will enable us to continue to operate a modern, fuel-efficient and cost-effective fleet, with significant noise reduction in comparison to today’s competitors. Thomson Airways is the first airline in the UK to fly the new state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner as part of its fleet in June 2013, flying from Manchester, East Midlands, Glasgow and Gatwick to Sanford, Florida and Cancun, Mexico. 15 Dreamliners will join the TUI GROUP fleet by 2016 with airlines TUIfly Nordic, Arkefly and Jetairfly also taking delivery of this innovative new aircraft. Johan Lundgren is appointed to the newly created role of Deputy Chief Executive with overall responsibility for the Mainstream Sector. December
